Question 1

What is Soonos?

Accepted Answer

Soonos is an AI-powered DJ mix analysis platform. Upload your mix and get a detailed score, transition analysis, energy curve, crowd readiness assessment, and personalized improvement tips — all in under 20 seconds.

Question 2

How does the AI scoring work?

Accepted Answer

Our scoring engine analyzes your mix across 6 dimensions: Transitions, Energy, Structure, Creativity, Crowd Readiness, and Technique. Each dimension is scored 0-100 based on patterns learned from thousands of professional DJ sets.

Question 3

Is Soonos free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You can analyze your first mix completely free. Premium plans unlock unlimited analyses, AI coaching, comparison tools, and advanced features.

Question 4

What file formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

Soonos supports MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, and OGG files. You can also paste a SoundCloud or Mixcloud URL to analyze mixes directly from those platforms.

Question 5

How long does analysis take?

Accepted Answer

Most mixes are analyzed in under 20 seconds. Longer mixes (2+ hours) may take up to 60 seconds. You'll receive a comprehensive report with scores, charts, and actionable recommendations.

Question 6

Can I analyze a SoundCloud or Mixcloud link?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Simply paste a SoundCloud or Mixcloud URL instead of uploading a file. Soonos will automatically download and analyze the mix for you — no extra steps needed.

Question 7

What level of DJ is Soonos for?

Accepted Answer

Soonos is designed for all levels — from complete beginners learning transitions to professional DJs fine-tuning festival sets. The AI adapts its feedback and recommendations to your skill level.

Question 8

Can I compare two mixes?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The Compare feature lets you put two mixes side-by-side and see how they differ across every scoring dimension. Perfect for tracking your progress over time or benchmarking against other DJs.

Question 9

What is the AI Coach?

Accepted Answer

The AI Coach is a personalized assistant that reviews your analysis results and gives you a step-by-step practice plan. It identifies your weakest areas and suggests focused exercises to improve fastest.

Question 10

Is my music kept private?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Your audio files are processed securely and automatically deleted after analysis unless you choose to keep them. Your reports and scores are private and only visible to you.

Question 11

How do credits work?

Accepted Answer

Each analysis costs one credit. New users receive free credits to get started. You can earn more credits by referring friends, verifying your DJ profiles, or subscribing to a premium plan for unlimited analyses.

Question 12

Can I share my results?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Each report includes a shareable link and a visual share card optimized for social media. Show off your scores on Instagram, Twitter, or send them to promoters and labels.

Question 13

How does Soonos analyze a DJ mix?

Accepted Answer

Soonos converts your mix into a sequence of discrete musical states (build-ups, drops, transitions, energy phases) and then applies multiple analytical models — Semi-Markov for state durations, Context Tree Weighting (CTW) for sequence patterns, and Dirichlet distributions for probability modelling with uncertainty. The output is a performance score, automated alerts, and contextual explanations.

Question 14

What are the discrete musical states?

Accepted Answer

Instead of treating audio as a continuous waveform, Soonos segments your mix into structured states such as intro, build-up, drop, plateau, breakdown, transition, and outro. Each state is timestamped and labelled, which lets the engine reason about your mix as a sequence rather than a blob of sound.

Question 15

What is a Semi-Markov model and why use it?

Accepted Answer

Semi-Markov models explicitly account for how long you stay in each state, not just which state comes next. This lets Soonos detect timing issues like premature drops, stretched plateaus, or rushed transitions — things a simple Markov chain would miss.

Question 16

What is CTW (Context Tree Weighting)?

Accepted Answer

CTW models variable-length context dependencies in your sequence of states. In practice, it evaluates the storytelling arc of your set: whether your transitions and energy moves make sense given everything that came before, not just the previous state.

Question 17

Why Dirichlet distributions?

Accepted Answer

Dirichlet distributions stabilise probability estimates when data is sparse and carry uncertainty through the pipeline. That's why Soonos can give you confidence-weighted feedback instead of overconfident verdicts on a 30-minute mix with only a handful of transitions.

Question 18

How are score, alerts and explanations generated?

Accepted Answer

The probabilistic engine combines Semi-Markov durations, CTW sequence likelihood, and Dirichlet-weighted probabilities to produce: a defensible performance score, automated alerts when a state, duration, or transition deviates from expected patterns, and contextual explanations that point to the exact moment and model signal behind each verdict.
